Tantalum is a strong shiny metal resistive to corrosion which is quite rare in nature in its pure form. It can be extracted from minerals which can be found in Brazil, Australia, and Canada. It usually occurs in compounds with niobium. The name of this chemical element comes from the Greek mythological character Tantalus the King. Tantalum is a very good insulator so it is used in electronic compound production; in particular, capacitors for mobile phones, etc. This chemical element also forms very strong alloys with other metals like iron, and the alloys are used for producing some parts of aircrafts, turbines, windmills, etc.
